Hotspot Scale...

Hi,

Does anybody have a knowledge of how far the Hotspot can scale..

I have a project currently that need 10K users + per Hotspot.. controller and without being able to test this..

Can Router OS deliver this on the correct Hardware?

The current setup is around 2000 on other equipment, but we need to support 10000+

Out of Intrest how far could this actually scale, for example.. What would be the ideal requirements for..

it good for 50k,
beyond that you depend on the LAN card supported in motherboard or in PC

Hi,

I wouldn’t recommend 50k users on one hotspot.

You would be better having multiple servers then adding the users to the same RADIUS group. If you need to roam between hotspots use MAC auth.

I would say 20k MAX hotspot…

50k maybe possible but may not be wise

So that is for the hotspot side… what about the AP?

I’ve got a project to provide wifi to a soccer stadium. Such big growds are a challenge for wifi equipment, and most consultants refer to other brands (r**k*s, for example). I would rather go with mikrotik if it was possible at all. Any clues on a setup for this scenario?

here we are talking about mikrotik hotspot, not for aps,

if you want to make a soccer stadium into hotspot,

you need aps with 802.11N X nos of ap for coverage,
all these aps are connected to one hotspot X86 server

afterall, it my luck to runnign such huge clients on mikrotik 3.20

Hello guys.Hotspot scale is not far away because if you make the project on the hotspot IP then i think not best for your project.scale is change and error is occurred when you change the IP or run your internet on another IP converter.
