Hotspot session info in html overlay

Hello!

I’m setting up a hotspot for my project. I wan’t my users to close session when they leave PC.

Usually, when you log to captive portal, a little pop-up comes up with session information and logout button. But more often then not, users accidentally close the popup window and they loose the ability to logout since they don’t remember the captive portal url.

Is there a way I could somehow inject a html overlay at the bottom of browser/page, that would be showing session remaining time and a logout button?
If yes, how? With proxy in content inject? Is there a simpler way?

Since this hotspot will be used by public pc and personal laptops, I can’t rely on a browser plugin but need something universal.
But I don’t want users to stay logged when they leave PC, since someone after him could abuse the login.

How do you solve those issues?

Is there a way that I can forward custom domain to certain URLs?

One option would be to forward http://log.out to http://hotspot/login
I think that might work, since it’s easy to remember.

Try to use hotspot “advertising” feature to add some html on top or bottom of the page…

I’m having troubles using Advertisment feature.

If I search google and want to visit a site it found, it shows the advertisement and then error page from google informing me that the server wanted to redirect me somewhere. I have to go back and try again, which doesn’t succeed every time.

It’s actually quite irritating:(

the advertising feature was made a long time ago, before popup blockers and such redirection protection.

we will improve it by redesigning how it works. currently you will have such issues, yes.

Hey!

I though so normis. I guess web proxy is out of the question for now.

Do you know, is it possible to redirect url’s with proxy?
I created a custom DNS static record for log.out and would like to be redirected to a certain URL. Is that possible with transparent proxy?

Matej

yes, it is described in the manual
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Proxy#Access_List

in the access list, make rules with deny action, and redirect-to address

DID not see that one:)

Already working, yeeey:)

Yes; inject into every page visited. This principle is used for ads more often; but will work for your ideaa, too.In case of interest, email to my adrs in profile.
