HotSpot user help

I have a wireless project with 9 apartment buildings, 3 floors per building and 2 units per floor. Whole project has 32 Unifi APs which are a PtMP with a UBNT rocket+omni (5Ghz). Then, it hits the Mikrotik. The property owner wanted to have more accountability so I installed a RB2011 and have the tenants hitting a custom splash page to enter credentials that are uniform for the whole complex. Well, I attempted to bind the MAC of a Xbox 360 to access the WiFi because the problems with the console and splash pages. The box received an IP but would not access the internet.

So, with the majority of people in the complex being of younger and gaming, I am getting swamped with “hey man, the internet is down” and then getting on-site to him/her not knowing how to access the splash page on their device or the device having issues w/ the landing onto the page. I have decided to go the route of setting users in the hotspot on a per building & room scheme. Say for example, building 17 room 103 user Id would 17103 and the password would be randomly generated.

Would this be a better route opposed to the splash page? Thoughts, ideas (lb), or input are all welcome.

Thanks in advance. :astonished:

Is DNS good installed? Try with nslookup to see this

If all other devices access the internet ok, then post “/ip hotspot ip-binding”. Maybe it is not entered correctly?

after going back into the MT, I realized I didn’t the MAC of the Xbox as “bypassed” and just set at regular. I haven’t been on-site to test this, but I’m sure this was the issue.
