HOTSPOT WITH PUBLIC IPs v2.0. It's possible?

Hello to all,

I was trying to find info in the forum (http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/hotspot-with-public-ips/27281/1) how to assign public IPs to hotspot users.

I have a public C class for me. The provider’s router is the .1 and my firts routerboard router has the .2 IP in ether1.

My routerboard is connected (ether5) to an AP and receiving clients.
I configured a hotspot in ether5 and all my costumers are working fine without problems, but all are using the same IP in Internet.

It’s possible to configure NAT or something in the hotspot to use public IPs instead of the private ones? Perhaps using a pool with the public IPs in hotspot properties in ip hotspot servers?

Thanks,

Yes, it is possible. However, I recommend disabling the hotspot until you get the srcnats/dstnats or netmap working. Follow the manual instructions for netmap. There should be help available in the wiki also. Then enable the hotspot.

Insure when you set up the hotspot, there is a question like:
masquerade network?
Default is “yes”. The answer in this case should be “no”.

If you’re going to give everyone public IPs anyway, why not just hand out public IPs via DHCP and turn off universal NAT on the Hotspot?
