How big of a machine do I need?

Hey folks.

We’ve got MT2.8.28 running as our main router. We’ve got about 700-800 pppoe sessions, plus regular routing stuff.

The server is a 3GHz Xeon, 1 GB RAM. Every few minutes utilization goes to 100% and stays there for a while (sometimes up to a minute), resulting in intermittent connectivity loss. Is PPPoE that big of a CPU hog?

Is 2.9 more efficient?

thanks,

vlad

I’d really suggest upgrading…

If you update to 2.9 you cpu will be down drastically.

When i upgrade and update my core to xeon 3.4 with 1gb ram, the cpu down from 100% to 30-40% with 500 aprox pppoe session, webproxy and qos (many mangle and queue tree rules).

Regards.
