How do I add a wireless ap to my wired setup

Hi, I have Buffalo wireless n150 router, access point & bridge http://www.techshout.com/wireless/2010/19/buffalo-launches-wcr-gn-new-wireless-airstation-router/.

How do I add this to my wired network. I have a routerOS 5.0beta. Currently running a wired network of an internet cafe. I want to add a wireless hotspot using Buffalo wireless n150. This router can be used as an access point only.

Do I need a separate NIC to connect my AP? Or just plug it in to a vacant slot (switch) of my wired network.

I also want to use user manager on this wireless setup.

Thanks in advance.

If it really acts as an access point all you should need to do is power it up and connect the Ethernet cord to the correct port. An AP will act on layer2, so the MikroTik won’t see any difference between a wired user or a wireless user.

If it only acts as a router, then you can disable the DHCP server on the router and connect the Ethernet cord to one of the LAN ports. This is generally not a good idea since it makes remote management and monitoring difficult or impossible. They are also not designed to act as a pure AP, so this can cause further problems, especially if they ever decide to factory default themselves.

I tried both. Both works, but preferred it on a separate NIC to have a different subnet (wireless users).

Now, I want to use usermanager but I could not get a configuration guide for version 5.0beta. Anyone could point/give me a link on howto for this version?

Thanks

i just can’t get it to work. Radius server is not responding when I try to login a user account. But with an admin account it works. Any ideas?

Basic configuration is the same for the User Manager (as for new, as for old).

i just can’t get it to work. Radius server is not responding when I try to login a user account.

More information is necessary about the problem.
At least what kind of service do you want to authorize by User Manager?
What is the configuration for /radius and appropriate RouterOS menu (HotSpot/PPP/DHCP)?

thanks for the reply. I am sending another supout file. Just recently sent a file but the file was corrupted or something.

Will drag and drop works with supout file? I just drag & drop it from winbox to my desktop.

Sorry, am a newbie and not an IT expert, please bear with me.

Sergejs,

I have gotten it to work with version 4.10
I did a fresh install.

Thanks alot.

I have some questions regarding user manager.

Is there an option to create a user account with unlimited access but will halt at the end of each month, when the bill is not paid?

How do you plan to receive payments from the clients?
For the automate process, User Manager supports only Paypal/Authorize.net payments, it means client should pay money by Paypal to get HotSpot account extended.
