How do i setup simple wireless router

Hello,
Please i need a simple details on setting up a wireless router on mikrotik board 133 with a just an antenna 2.4GHz frequency. Again i need to ask which on the antenna is tag antenna a and which on is tag antenna b? I got 2.4 and 5.8 antenna support on my router board.
Cheers!

Setup your wireless settings as ap-bridge, That will make your routerboard be an Access Point. Antenna B is your MMCX connector, and antenna A is your U-FL connector, so depending on what you are hooking you antenna up to your wireless card with you should select the correct port… If you use MMCX use port B, If you use U-fl Use port A. and then you will have an ACCESS Point! Good luck! -Jordan

Thanks for the response. I assume setting up the NAT and DHCP before implementing the instruction specified? Is that correct??

those can be added later, its up to you how you want to go about it, you can do it before or after it has no affect on weather it will work in an access point mode! Make an access point then set it up with your NAT and DHCP and dns and all that stuff. good luck -Jordan

Thanks for the response. The router was setup as an access point bridge. But i realized that the signal strength was poor despite the closeness to to the base station. What could be responsible for this? My current noise floor is -94dBm
Cheers!

Hello fren,
yes, you can try...

  1. check air of the channel crowded or not
  2. when your wireless[ap] run as 2.4ghz, better when is set it up as 2.4ghz-b not 2.4ghz-b/g
  3. uncheck default-authentication on wireless interface, and your mac-address of client registered on access-list, ofcourse.
  4. tighten pigtail or coaxial connector to connect to the antenna.
  5. make sure the water is not inside your feeder or connector to the antenna.

good luck...

Hello Guy,
I mistakingly disable the ether1 interface of my router board 133 while trying to disable some unused interface. Can anyone tell me how to get into my router board and enable this device?

Hai fren,
Oooooh, . . .yes, if possible you can try to login in with wirelessly interface. if not, only serial-null modem cable and HyperTernimal's windows will help you.

Thanks..have resolved the issue. I open the router board and find two RJ45 socket. I power-up the router board and connect a straight cable to the last socket in the box. Now using a winbox software i was able to query for mikrotik router and i have the MAC address of the port am connected to. I was able to log on with the MAC address of the socket and hence enable my ether1.
I did not use serial connection. The method seems a little bit complex for me. I rather use a fast (but working) method and save some time.

Thanks for the response!
Regards.
