How does mesh scale?

Over the past few months I have posted several questions attempting to find some one who has deployed OS v3.x in a mesh deployment over a couple hendred AP’s. I usually get no replies so I am trying one more time.

I am willing to hire someone to assist in the design of the project. We can’t take time to do field trials to verify reliability. We aren’t lazy just need to move quickly. If you have been invoived in a project where Mikrotik has been previously deployed in this manner please let me know.

Folks at Mikrotik, I would like to hear from you if you are aware as well.

I have done a number of commercial mesh deployments.

My suggestion would be to use a commercial mesh product from a vendor such as SkyPilot and use Mikrotik for backhaul.

Thanks so much for your responce. I have to asgree with you. I just finished a couple of days of meetings with 2 of the major Mesh hardware players. Although the AP cost is over twice of what Mikrotik would cost I am not getting any feed back from Mikrotik or other WISP’s that v3.x is ready for this type of deployment. I do plan to test MME in a small citiy to test the concept.

Out of interest what vendors are you looking at ?

I have deployed Proxim AP-4000MR-LR with success at a large shipping port, they worked fantastically and Proxim even made custom firmware changes for us.
Saying that however, I would not recommend them for a metro deployment as their management is lacking. The SkyPilot mesh AP’s are very good in this respect.
