How does Mikrotik wireless work (Technical Aspects)

Hello guys, my company is in the wireless links business, focused on last mile solutions, and metropolitan point to point or point to multi point solutions. We use mikrotik radios for most of our links and one of our biggest clients is a bit concerned about the radios using the 802.11 standard mainly beacause they relate it with the domestic wifi.

So what i was hopig is you all could explain how the radios really work, i mean i think i know the most important aspects but i would really appreciate if you could help me confirming the info i have. Regarding the modulation, the transmission, the propietary protocols, if mikrotik developed something diferent based on the 802.11 standard. I mean, anything you could think so i can have all the facts that could be presented to our client in order to give them some tranquility regarding the mikrotik technology and why you can have stable long distance links using the 802.11 standard.

Thanks in advanced.

There was a great presentation given at at a MUM about this..

Nstreme and NV2 are Mikrotik proprietary protocols designed to help with the pitfalls of 802.11

they can eliminate the problems of 802.11 such as ACK-Timeout, the “Hidden Node” Problem and CSMA problems.

Uldis also gave a presentation on this. this slide set would be useful to you.

Here is the presentation i was talking about

My advice would be to keep it simple to your clients. Nstreme and Nv2 are commercial proprietary protocols similar to motorola canopy and Ubiquiti Airmax… Purpose built!

Take Luck…

Thx a lot.
