I would like to increase DHCP lease time to two weeks however I’m concerned about memory and cpu usage. What is a reasonable maximum number of leases RB450G can manage (number of computers at any given time would be less than 60)?
thanks.

There will not be any problems on BR450g with 60 leases.
Thanks for your answer but I need little more information.
Will RB450G handle onset of 60 DHCP requests(caused by all clients that are reconnecting right after outage, for example) in a short period of time with lease table of 300 entries?
Lease time will affect how large the database is. I think I will end up with around 300 entries but I would like to know the limits so router can respond to DoS situation- for example when the router should email me that number of leases is too high.
for that, my second question is how many DHCP leases can RB450G store and be still functional DHCP server.
thank you.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong…
If i’m not mistaken, as long as the DHCP server does not lose power, the lease is still active, and the client MAC Address does not change, when the client reconnects it will get the same/previous IP Address.
Hope this helps.
I am using the RB750, not the G version, with 150+ DHCP clients on a very busy network and hosting several servers on the Web. There have been no issues at all. Very pleased with the performance of this router.
Based on your feedback sounds like RB450G will be ok. Thanks for sharing.
I found nmap has a dhcp script so I’ll try to test the RB450G to see the maximum leases it can handle.
