How many Ethernet Interfaces can I use?

I am testing MT on an Intel Motherboard with 6 pci Slots and 6 pci-ethernet cards attached. 1 for Local network and other 5 to cablemodems.

I want to know if using Routerboards pci 4 port I can use more.

Is there any limit?

can i put 5 pci routerboards 4 port, it will be a total of 5 * 4 = 20 connections…??

does mikrotik allow that? is it stable?

RouterOS will support the number of interfaces you want, but you may not get full bandwidth due to IRQ sharing. Disable all unnecessary devices in BIOS, e.g. parallel port, serial ports etc., this will maximise the number of IRQs available.

I am having a problem with one interface that sometimes stopped receiving data. RX=0 and I had to power cycle MT to get it to work again. I changed almost everything I can, Ethernet card, cable, modem, and it continue doint that randomly.

Anyway, I keep testing.

Try turn auto-negotiate off on the interface that gives you problem

Hard set it to 100/full (if that wat it is)

I have the same problem using a daughterboard (9 ethers) and this fix’s it.

I sent supout but MT crew cannot replicate the problem

Give it a shot anyway

yes, this is exactly what I am trying now. (and aparently works ok)

and now I am fighting against a ddos attack on one of the interfaces…

it is eating lot of process…

ufff, day never ends..!
