How many MT CPE per AP?

Howdy everyone,

I know I know this question has been asked before but I wanted to start a new thread with possibly better answers on this. We have an AP that has 44 connected clients. I know that this sounds weird but… Can MT only hold successfully only 34 + or - 4 CPE(all MT) connected to it? If I am wrong(which I hope that I am) what hardware are you using. We have a 493AH with an R52 on it with a 3.25 ROS running. Is this enough? How many can I have connected to one card? What is the maximum amount of connected wireless customers on say the following cards:
CM9
R52
R52H
SR2
SR9
XR2

I just want to know what other people are doing because under 50 connected CPE’s is just way too low. I wish I could see more connected to our sectors.

I do have a couple of other towers and they have populated up to around 30-35 CPEs and they are responding differently. I have a couple of tower sectors that have a handful of Nano2’s and CB3’s could that cause TX problems?

Where is the changelog for the wireless-test package? Does this actually help load wise on a sector?

Any ways for my series of questions even answering a portion of my questions would be great. thanks.

DesertAdmin

I have 60+ in a rb433 with R52.
I know people with 120+ in a rb433ah with a r52h. It depends on the traffic you need.

Well we have like 2-3 power users on the sector but almost everyone has a 512k connection burstable to 1M up and down. But the problems that we are seeing are not bandwidth by any means but CPE connections seem to go haywire once there is more than 30 CPEs. How does one hold more than 30CPEs successfully. TX back to the tower seems to go bad the more you have on a tower.

I know other people have to be experincing this. Now the people that get 120 per tower I would like to know if they use AMPS and cavity fitlers or if they are just in a jungle with no RF except their own. Also are the people who have 60+ CPEs on a sector (not tower but on a sector) using xr-2’s or are they just r52s?

I recall a post some years back when people mentioned the limitations of the PRISM card being about 25-30 CPEs. I have not seen anything different to show me that you could house more than that on a AP. Maybe you are using NSTREME or some sorta tweak that allows you to run more than what is normal on your tower. But realistically we only see about 30-35 barely connecting to our AP. Please give advice. Thanks.

Are you using B or B/G or just G mode?
Do you use the ANI? if so do you use it on both sides?

Any info would help thanks.
