I want to ask a simple question. I have made up a combination of devices which i to buy to setup a WISP.
I just want to ask can any tell me how much distance can be achieved with this combination.
Base Station Side.
R52H 802.11a/b/g miniPCI card.
RB/433AH.
15dB Omni Directional Antenna.
Client Side, i just want to use a simple AP that i will place on the roof.
Just want to know how much distance can be covered with this setup easily.
I just want to cover an area of maximum of 5km to 6km with good quality signals at client side.
And one more thing can anyone guide me how to use Nstreme Protocol.
Like he said we need more info to better help you, however I can give you some insight on how much distance can be acheived, You can make links of 15 miles or more LOS of course with 5.8Ghz or 2.4Ghz (even more if they where directonal all the way up to 40 miles+), they say per radio, you wouldn’t want to go over 30 clients, so if you have more than that you may want to go sectoral. (more radio’s more clients) I use Omni’s in my Wisp, I found we do not have a dense enough demand of customers in a specific area it was not worth the expense of going sectoral, However there are adavantages with sectoral over omni, Better noise floor farther distances, more clients, Better penetration though objects, and more. Hope this helps. -Jordan
