How to add a ethernet port to RBM33G (mpcie)

Hello,

For a projet, I need to connect a routerboard with a computerboard, but without using the front ethernet port. The new board RBM33G is perfect, but I need an internal way to connect with my computer board.

I try to use un mPCI card to add an ethernet port, but RouterOS doesn’t see that it is an ethernet interface. (it was a REALTEK chip). Do you have a mPCI to ethernet to recommand? If I can buy it in France it will be the best.

Otherwise, do you have an other way to do that? I accept every solution, but not wireless, and must be view as 10/100 minimum.

In a future board, it can be a very good idea to add internal rj45, or just the pin with a jumper to share with a frontal rj45 for example. In this way, I can add a compute board without need to connect the in front of the rack…

Regards.
Olivier

And what about to bend the cable back? Or mount whole board into the case?

It’s not possible, because I need 3 ethernet port for our project, and a mPCI used for LTE with R11e-LTE.

It is why I need to add a port or a way to communicate with the board.

Regards.
Olivier

Communicate with the board wirelessly through the second mPCI-E wifi adapter !?

it is typically what I don’t want, but the way I will be take… If there are no other solution, why not?

Internal WiFi inside the box over few centimeters distance? Isn’t better to incorporate a small switch?

Hello olivier
see this ..

tested and still working with mipsbe HEX (don’t have a rbm33g to test) -

yes 6x ethernet, the last is the usb dongle.

Would be really nice if Mikrotik published list of VID/PIDs of supported hardware in RouterOS. Be it MiniPCI, MiniPCIe or USB devices… all of them. I wonder when some card works in x86 build of Mikrotik (you can test that on an notebook, just install ROS on USB stick) if it will also work on ARM build and board like this nice RBM33G. You can get 1x PCIe to MiniPCIe extender and use pretty much any PC sized card in RBM… but actual driver availability across platforms is a big question.

the most el-cheapo single port FE usb dongles out there on ebay just work fine.
they are kind of limited however on throughput.
