torrent files or torrent protocol? torrent files you can block with proxy, same as you blocked websites. just block by path, not by host.
How ruthless can you be in your implementation?
I’m fortunate in that the only places I have to be concerned about p2p is on the public networks for our retail customers.
They agree to an aup which specifies no p2p, and pay nothing.
First p2p traffic they send or receive puts them on a 2 hour bad boy list, all further traffic qos’d to 1b/sec.
I’ve found that when I fire up utorrent, with encryption forced, there is always one or two packets at the start of the stream that ROS will detect as p2p, and thats enough to mark further traffic from that user.
It’s a brutal process, but these are anon users identifiable only by mac, so I don’t have a way to warn/notify them other than the aup/tos.
i blocked some udp ports on my 433ah and that seemed to help blocking torrents
Hi,
Have a look at this topic…

To the best of my knowledge it still works.
