If ur cable modem does not have multiple lan ports, Put a switch in between the cable modem and linksys(1) so u can have a separate cable from the switch to the 433ah(1). configure the 2 433ah as transparent bridge. then u can use the remaining 2 public ip’s on linksys (2) & (3) assuming all the 3 public IP’s from the same subnet.
If there is all system in bridge mode then these IP addresses can be where ever they are and being on the same subnet is not important.
i assume he has been provided with 3 public IP’s on the same cable modem. neways if he has 3 he can use them any whr he likes across the bridge ![]()
Hello everybody,
Yes, the cablemodem has a switch with 4 ports, and my ISP only give me 3 public IP’s. I will try all your recomendations, I will tell you what happens.
Many thanks!!
Hi again,
I am not able to do the link. I put the RB433 (A) in bridge mode, and I could get the public IP on wlan1 of RB433 (B). But then I try to do bridging in RB433(B) with eth1 and eth2 but it doesn’t work… I try several ways, with WDS, with EoIP… there are a lot of types of tunnels, but i can’t see any manual to see how does it work, and which is best in each case.
Can someone help me?
u dont need to bridge eth1 & eth2 on 433(b). u need to bridge wlan1 and eth1. thr after put a switch out of eth1 and the connect ur linksys(2) & (3) to ports of that switch. u dont need eth2 of 433(b).
it works!!! nice!!!
and… is there any possibility to put the linksys in client mode, so the RB433(B) take 2 Public IP’s? (imagine, eth1 for 1ºIP and eth2 for 2ºIP)
In that case, RB433 (B) works as router (with DHCP enabled), so I can apply queues to clients and I have more control…
Thanks!
