I have 2 PC with Mikrotik. Each with one D-Link DWL-G520 card. They operate in AP-bridge mode (first have IP range 10.10.0.1-254, second 10.10.1.1-254). Now, I want to connect this two computers. One computer is on one part of the our village, second is on other part. I want to connect them with direct link. I’m going to put second G-520 in each computer and connect them to parabolic antenas. How should I setup my Ip-s or bridge mode’s?
I’m from Croatia and I’m boughted them in local stor. Model is D-Link DWL-G520. It’s an Atheros chipset and they are working excelent! Currently, I’m using them on 23 db which is 200 mW. I tryed them on 26db=400 mW and they also worked well but we don’t need such power because we are all near the AP.
Its true, also level1 wnc0100 works and netgear wg311t . I have tested them, they work perfect with 26dbm, 30dbm setup makes latency unstable and netgear card gives out 5W instead of 1W (on 30dbm setup), but is unusable.
The power was measured with osciloscope and spectral analyzer.
If you have to have them both in ap-bridge mode you will need to setup WDS on both units. OR you can set one unit to station and the other to ap-bridge and then do your routing. I use the secound way! Not a fan of WDS, but it does have it’s place. Just not on my outdoor network!
