How to connect R5H ESD connection?

I have the new R5H cards with ESD protection. But I can’t find any manual explaining me what is the recommended procedure for connecting these cards on routerboards?

The card has one empty screw hole and two tiny screws on the print. Which one of these is to connect the earth wire?

Where do I connect that earth wire at? To the routerboard? To the casing (if of metal)? Any preferences?

It would be nice if MT could give a bit more info abt the physical connection of these cards in respect of ESD and lightning protection. Or do they presume we all are smart enough to figure it out ourselves?

I have added a document to the product page, see the left side under the image;

OK, thanks Normis.
What is now the best practise to connect this little cable at? (Would be nice to add these cables to the radio as combined product, like the competition has..)
Screw this cable to the motherboard? Or fit it to the chassis of the weather box (if of metal) or directly to a earth connected wire?
Maybe some have example pictures?

What is the other screw ment for on the radio card?

any of the both holes is suitable for ESD cable, just make sure the cable is attached on the top of the miniPCI (not bottom).
the left hole is suited to attach the card more securely to the PCB board, to avoid vibration, but none of our RouterBOARD devices have a hole for that.

Ok, very helpful info.
Please add this last info to the routerboard info pdf’s too. I’ll bet more users like this kind of info.

But thanks nevertheless!

Oh, and make my day… by telling us that MT from now on is supplying the little earth cables and screws with these mini boards too! Some Chinese factory must be able to produce these for less then a cent in bulk!

Make us buyers happy. I bought 20 of these radio’s. Now I have to spend a day in cutting, solding and crimping these tiny cables and at my age I need my glasses for that!

I think we don’t manufacture R5H anymore

? Why is that? Do they have issues? Out of the 20 purchased I only started working with one yet! They aren’t that long on the market isn’t it? I am not amused. How can buyer feel confident in buying some stock only to find out that within a year his stock is already of discontinued nature? It doesn’t build my confidence in the card this way… :frowning:

In regard of the wish for the combined supply of the tiny earth cables, that counts for all ESD protection equiped cards. So you can still make my day!

No, it’s because we have moved to 802.11n now. We have new products that replace the old ones.

LOL

find out that within a year his stock is already of discontinued nature? It doesn’t build my confidence in the card this way

the cards don’t become worse just because some new technology has appeared on the market  does your LCD LED TV become obsolete just because they announced the new 3D models? you can still watch the same 2D movies as you ever did.
