How to connect RB800 to cable-modem

Hi,

I want to set up RB800 to work as AP (I have 2 CM9 wireless cards), but when I connect cable-modem to ethernet port of RB800, DHCP client on ethernet port can not obtain IP address.

Can you, please, help me…

What I’ve found, especially with Comcrap, is that some providers’ DHCP server won’t issue a new lease on an interface until the old one is expired. If you had a computer attached previously, try sending a DHCP release request, then try the RB again.

If you’re still not up and running, try turning off the cable modem for a few minutes, this may trigger an automatic release on the server. If you’re still banging your head against the wall, call the provider and ask them to reset your IP configuration so you can attach a new router.

P.S. you can also change the mac on the router to match whatever device was previously connected, but that may not be a desirable solution.

Hope this helps…

Might be a silly question, but have you rebooted the cable modem after connecting it to the RB800 ?

I know DOCSIS CM files have a MAC address limit. I am not sure what CC has set as a default.

On my network it is 5.

I have rebooted cable modem and it works fine now.

Thank you very much.
