We deploy several Mikrotik 751 devices running Router OS 5.6 every week and need to replicate the same config that we deem as Default to each Mikrotik that we deploy. We have noticed that if you use the backup and restore utility it will save settings from one Mikrotik to the other that presents undesired naming and MAC address assignment.
We have also used the “EXPORT/IMPORT” function as well and this does not create the results that we want either. Some settings are missed/not correct from the parent Mikrotik to the second Mikrotik. When I have tried to import the script that is generated from an export command I will get an error that will not let me complete the import.
My process is the following.
- Once the router comes up, I open a Terminal and type “system reset”.
- Router reboots and asks if I want to load the Default configuration which I say “NO”.
- Router reboots again.
- Drag my Default script that was exported from another router in the “FILE” area of the router.
- Open terminal and type "import file=[script name]
- I get an error that says “Chosen Master-port does not support this feature…interrupted”.
I have attached the error. What am I doing wrong?
