how to downgrade

Hi,
I think i have done something stupid where i installed the V5 RC1 on a pc installed and then ordered a license for it. I have tried to downgrade to 4.11 as i am having issues and was hoping that may fix my issues but the downgrade seems to do nothing as it still says it is 5 RC1 at next bootup. While i have not got my license installed yet as it has not come through yet i am worried i will not be able to use the license when i get it if i format the drive and install 4.11 from scratch since the license is tied to the softkey.

Can any one give me some ideas on my options here?

without license you can’t change versions. apply license, then issue command “/system package downgrade”

thanks. any idea how long the license takes via paypal? i put the transaction through hours ago and got the email to say it is payed by paypal but it is stuck in pending transaction on your site.

usually it takes one second. email support with your account login name, and I will check the status of the transaction.

well i have now installed my new license and tried again to downgrade using the command suggested above as well as the web interface option to downgrade and both look like they work as it gives no errors when it extracts it etc but once it reboots it is still 5 RC1.

Note that this was an original RC1 install from iso. It never had another version on there and the license was for the 5.0 RC1 softkey. The licence says i can use version 5.x and version 6.x maybe that is why i can’t downgrade to 4.11?

Since my Nat on my ppoe connection does not work correctly in V5 RC1 i need to downgrade to 4.11. I have tested and the exactly the same setup works perfectly on 4.11. Hell it the most basic of setups at the min just one nic for local lan and one nic that a ppoe client runs over to my internet provider, default route and nat setup and dns. no firewall etc is setup and only ping to the internet works. On 4.11 this same config lets me access the internet on all ports not just via ping only.

Can anyone help me get 4.11 running or explain the fix for the nat on v5 RC1. Running on VMware esxi 4.1.

  1. Open winbox, and click on New Terminal
  2. Type “/file print”
  3. Post output here
  4. Type “/system package downgrade”
  5. Post what happens here
  6. If after reboot you still have v5, type “/log print without” and post output here

do all the above steps please

ok seemed to work that time but it is still strange. It is 4.11 now but i still have the same issue even though i reset the config and then set it up exactly the same as my other v4.11 vm that works and it still has the same issue where the internet can only be pingged.

Of course, the RC version is perfectly fine and shouldn’t cause any issues like that. You should make a new topic and explain the problem and your configuration

Done that but no solutions yet. Don’t get why one copy works perfectly but other on same hardware and config does not.

I have compared the config from the working and not working vm and attached them to the post they are almost identical apart from mac addresses and a slight case difference in what i called my ppoe connection. I can not work out why my licensed vm will no work no matter what i do but the one that i installed as 4.11 originally instead of v5.0 RC1 works perfectly.

Please help if you can. if i can resolve soon i will raise a support request as i don’t think it is something i am doing wrong any more and i need my router working.

I think you should get with support.
