Hello,
today I bought new RB751U-2HnD. I shortly tested it in my simple home network and works perfectly.
The main purpose for this device is to route 3G/CDMA connection to my network as a primary uplink.
I borrowed Huawei E1750 with Vodafone CZ SIM card and it works without any problems - just needed to set up PPP and enable srcnat.
I own Vodafone Combo modem “CELOT CTD-200 Dual USB Modem” and I want to use its CDMA part as an uplink for my net. But I don’t know how to force RB recogize this modem as a modem - it doesn’t show as a “port” in Ports section of Winbox/Webfig.
What i tried:
- upgrade RouterOS 5.21 to 6.0rc11 (no effect)
- connected the CELOT modem to linux x86 machine - modem need usb-modeswitch stuff to became two serial ports instead of virtual CD-ROM drive
- when I tried to connect via this modem in Ubuntu, after modeswitch I needed to reload “usbserial” module with forced vendor/device IDs
I wonder about usb-modeswitch functionality in RouterOS, but I think I don’t really need it, because in System->Resources->USB are already two devices - CDMA part of modem, vendor:0x211f device:0x6805 and WCDMA (3G) part, vendor:0x211F device:0x6809.
So I think that the solution would be to force vendor/device ID to usb-serial driver(module?) in RouterOS - is this possible to do?
If it’s not possible to do this - is an option to get vendor/device IDs of this modem to next version of RouterOS so it can be recognized as a modem automatically? It should be possible because some CELOT modems are already supported.
I don’t have any information about required firmware files for this modem.
I can send supout.rif on request, or reply to any question related to this problem. Unfortunately I don’t have public IP so I can’t make access to my RB.

EDIT: usb-modeswitch clearly not needed in RouterOS, because “CD-ROM emulation” layer of modem has vendor/device IDs 05c6:1000, which is common ID for this “virtual” CD-ROM device. I couldn’t see this ID in Winbox/Webfig, so RouterOS has already done usb-modeswitch operation. Now the only needed thing is to get the ports recognized. If needed, I can supply USB sniffer logs from Windows workstation with this modem.
