How to install Dude server on Routerboard 1100?

Hello,
I just got a Routerboard 1100 and need to install Dude server on it.
Got the server from mikrotik.com (PPC) copied into root folder, rebooted the routerboard. In the logs I got that Dude server is installed but I cannot find it anywhere. I got just a file into packages and when I try to enable it the server shows in log “package dude is unscheduled by admin”.

Any ideeas?

you don’t need to enable it. it works right after upload and reboot.
unscheduled in log simply means you cancelled uninstall, this has no relevance to the issue.

you will not see any trace of Dude server in RouterOS. to use it, connect with Dude windows client application to the RouterOS IP address.

Tnx for the reply normis.
I have downloaded and installed dude for windows from mikrotik website, tried to connect to my router ip and in the lower left corner I have an error witch I cannot read it: “Error: Connect fail: No connection could be made because the tha…”

How can I see the whole text of that error?

I must tell you that on mikrotik website, wiki and forum I cannot find any information about installing and using the dude from RouterOs. How can a user guess that he have to install the dude for windows to access the dude server on routeros?

sorry, the error message is cut off because of a known problem, it will be fixed in the future.

There is no way to use The Dude from RouterOS. It’s just a server/agent. It has no interface, you must use the Dude windows program to connect to it. You can also use the web interface, but that will require another PC anyway.

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:The_Dude/Agents#RouterOS_as_Agent

make sure your RouterOS is not blocking the connection with any Input chain firewall rules.

It’s a new routerboard 1100, with no firewall rules.
I got it for testing and bridged all the ethernet to bridge1.
I can connect to that IP with winbox, but dude got that error.

What could be wrong there?

show me the output of “/system package print”

and “/ip address print” and also “/ip firewall export”

Is your Dude client version also v4.0beta2 ?
did you actually use 80.97.140.241 in the winbox connect-to window, or you maybe used the MAC address?

Yes, my dude client is 4.0beta2.
I have used both IP address and MAC address to connect in the winbox to the Routerboard, and works in both cases.

I have uninstalled the dude 4.0beta2 and reinstall Dude v3.6 on routeros and windows and now works.
Maybe is a bug on that beta.

we will test dude server on RB1100, thanks

Normis,
I have found the exact same error using Dude 4.0beta2, and a RB800. It would not allow me to log into the RB800 Dude server and provided me with the same error message.. The Dude 4.0beta2 pkg was installed correctly. Removing the Dude 4.0beta2 pkg, and reinstalling the Dude 3.6 pkg solves the problem.

Something in 4.0beta2?

-tp

Has there been any resolution to this issue?
I just got a new 1100 with 4.13 and 2Gb ram installed on it.
I dropped dude 4.0beta2 under files and rebooted.
It shows dude but I cannot log into it.
Any ideas?

schat, w0lt

yes, it is correct. Currently The Dude 4.0rc2 package does not work on PPC platform (RB600/800/1000/1100).

Hi, I’ve just installed the same old buggie version of the dude on my RB1100AHX2 (obviously without sucess), then I realize it’s has been a while without any notice of a new release of the dude.
I would like to know what is the status of the software (it is still alive?), and if we shall keep waiting a new version or we just should lookup for another network monitor software?

If that’s the case? may any of you recommend a good (mikrotik friendly) network monitor software?

Thanks in advance.
