Hi, I have cf card but I donno how to install it??? Pls help me.
plug it in, that’s all.
for using in proxy, just select it as the cache-drive …
its empty cf card, I want to install mikrotik on it, shall I put all files which is in iso file to cf card?
I’ve got a CF card which has no OS in it. How can I install Mikrotik on it and to be ready to use in router?
insert card.
start netinstall on windows computer. enable net boot.
boot new router with either floppy (netinstall makes it) or net pxe.
select mac address of router to be installed.
select packages, then install.
its mini-itx pc, doesn’t support what you said. I saw couple stores which sells cf card with Os, I want to install os to Cf card like they did it.
netinstall works with every version of routeros on every platform, even miniitx. if it doesnt support PXE then use a floppy. if you can’t figure out how to plug a CF into the miniitx then search for CF-IDE adapters ($20US).
I’ve got that CF-IDE adapter. And I plugged it. There is no problem, I extracted .iso file and copied from now on when I opened it it says missing OS that means it ain’t gonna work, except I use CD.
I’ve got a new problem, I installed files via netinstall. Now it says:
Uncompressing Linux… OK, booting the kernel.

But its freezing “_” part is still blinking I waited 2-3 hrs. It still doing samething.
if you have a Cdrom just boot from the ISO on CD. If netinstall isn’t finishing it most likely a firewall or dual nic problem.
Sam
I installed it on CF card not via network. Installed files to CF card and inserted to computer.
What Is my mistake pls help me? Am I doing something wrong or missing?
so you installed RouterOS onto the CF, just copied the files over to it? So tell us whats not working… what errors do you see, what happens after post, anything that lets us not have to guess : )
Two options:
A:
- Burn ISO to CD (not copy ISO to CD, but Burn the Image)
- Boot from the CD on your router-to-be machine
- Install RouterOS from the CD to the CF card which should be already attached
B.
- Put the CF card into a USB reader and attach to a regular windows PC
- Run the Netinstall program
- Select RouterOS NPK packages, and the CF drive as the Target
- Install RouterOS and then move the CF card to your router-to-be machine

You haven’t said what version you are trying to install. If it is v2.9.x and you have motherboard with SATA conenctors you should have in mind that MT cannot boot from IDE (it has something to do with internal motherboard interface ID).

Hi Normis,
Can you please tell me how to install mikrotik os onto a cf that i can run an a RB800?
When i use netinstall it only gives me the option for x86
you can’t do that. CF card can be used for RouterOS only on PC. in RouterBOARDs it can only be used as secondary storage.
