How to link two hotspots.

Hello everyone,

I have a few Wireless hotspots and until now I was using RouterOS on PC with 2 NICs. Everything is runing perfectly.
But now I bought 2 RouterBoard 333, with 2 r52s mini pci cards and 3 ether ports that I will install on the roof of 2 buildings
What I would like to do is:

building1 - 16MB ADSL connection=> RouterBoard-1:
ether1 => internet and power (POE)
ether2 => hotspot interface with IP range 10.5.50.2 to 10.5.50.254 (for example), this interface I want to connect to a switch and connect 6 linksys Access Points inside the building. (Up to here is ok)

From here is where i would need help from some of you.
wlan1 => I would like to connect outdoor antenna and use for my Hotspot on ether2 using the same dhcp and login page from ether2. So I can reach some other buildings, hotels and hostels and houses in the area.
Wlan2 => I would like to use it to link to building2 which is less then 300 metres away but doesn’t have internet connection and I would like to use the 2nd RouterBoard as follow:

Building2 - no internet connection => RouterBoard 2
Wlan2 => link to building1, so we can have internet.
Wlan1 => With outdoor antenna will be the Hotspot interface IP range 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.254 (for example), with different login page than the building1.
ether2 => linked to Hotspot on wlan2 will be connected to a switch which then I connect 4 linksys access points inside the building.
ether3 => not used
ether1=> only for power (POE)

First of all is that all possible? Can I have these two hotspots running on the same Static IP Address from my ISP and if yes how my radius server would recognize from which hotspot the request for authentication would come?
Can I bridge these 2 routers and still use Wireless hotspot on both of them?
I use a radius server to manage all my Hotspot, so these 2 router would be connected to my server which is another location.

Thanks to all.

Claudio

The answers are:
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.

Not the easy setup tho. I use an a-mode “backbone” to link all hotspot APs to a single wan IP.

I have a second wan IP address also so I can access all my APs behind the bridge. I access the main box and change the nat routing to each AP as I need to access it.

Setting up hotspots on an ether interface is exactly like the wlan setup. Just no radio to set up.

Hi again SurferTim,

I’m sorry but could you please give some details about the link. I didn’t really understand.

Thanks
