I’ve switched a lightly loaded sector to nv2 which runs great. But …
when the customer does a ping it looks worse to him.
Pinging from the site router through the bridging sector to the cpe gives: Min: 1ms Avg: 5ms: Max: 8ms
Pinging from the cpe: Min: 2ms: Avg: 15ms Max: 33ms
Doing a traceroute from the cpe the times look much better.
Is this a scheduling thing with nv2?
I left all nv2 settings at the defaults + enabled security.
I dont want to switch back to nstreme/802.11 only for the sake of looking good
I imagine the ping latency with nv2 is similar to nstreme in that pings will show higher latency, usage shows the same latency or better while playing a game, voip, etc.
33ms ping alone is high, but 33ms latency over a 80kbps two way connection for a game is awesome.
No. It is higher and differs more. May be the nv2 package collection algorithm is different.
Ping from the ap side look much better than from the cpe side.
I have been fighting the same thing here. I have one guy who games a lot that is having issues. I have played around with different NV2 settings including QOS and nothing really seems to help.
