I’d been trying to connect openwrt (atheros) based station with mikrotik ap. My scenario is mikrotik ap and openwrt clients. Mikroti is running in ap bridge mode with wds = dynamic and stations are wrt in station mode and wds=1. They are connected but can’t ping each other. Signal strength is good as its an indoor test. Are they incompatible or some configration problems.

We have seen the same - think they are not fully compatible. I would consider going for Routerboards in stead of wasting a lot of time struggling over this. RB411/ROS does what you want right out of the box to a fair price - then again, it also depends what your motivation is - business or just playing.
