i have a MIKROTIK LtAP mini LTE / RB912R-2nD-LTm&R11e-LTE - basically a router for which the WAN is a 4G sim card and the LAN is transformed as an access point
my ISP provider (who gave me the SIM cards) told me that even though i get an external IP for it, i cannot use ssh / http / winbox to connect to that device (probably behind a proxy)
is there any way to monitor the uptime of that device? maybe to be able to send a ping every 5 minutes / or other information from it to a server with open ports? (zabbix / prtg / other monitoring solutions)
If you have a “server with open ports” running on a public IP address, your best bet is to set up a VPN from the LtAP mini to that server if you want to be able to manage the LtAP mini remotely. A permanently running VPN creates some LTE traffic which may be an issue for you, so if you don’t need remote management of the LtAP, you can configure the server as trap-target under /snmp and just receive information about failures.
I am also having a similar issue, I want to be able to remotely access my LtAP Mini remotely, and have a public IP address, but all the various tutorials I can find online refuse to work, I can’t get a connection. Does someone have a method that actually works? Thanks.
What “various tutorials”? If you want to get a useful help, follow one of those tutorials, show the resulting configuration of both devices involved, and describe what exactly doesn’t work.
