How to monitor a switch cisco, with rmon

We have a Cisco SG200-26, that does not support snmp, but instead Rmon
We upload the rmon mib in dude, but from there…
How do we do it?

Thank´s in Advance

Hi Masc

you can not use Rmon just becasue it’s a monitoring methodology (trough snmp MIB) that needs as prerequisite SNMP service running and in your case as you said on Cisco SG200-26 snmp service is not available.
Take care that RMON isn’t really another protocol but just an SNMP extension implmented trough a snmp MIB.

Hoping this will help YOU
have a ncie day

The Rmon MIB will let you decode the Rmon counters data but the method that is used to get that data from the switch is still SNMP. If the switch doesn’t support the SNMP protocol then you can probably only get the Rmon data using telnet to access the command line interface. It may be possible to get the data that way, but it is going to require a LOT of pretty clever scripting to get The Dude to use that method I’d think.
