How to open ports?

Hello,

I have a mikrotik rb5009 and I want to open ports but not quite sure how I do that can someone explain how I do that?

Thanks

Do you have a public IP or does your upstream router allow you to open ports?
What is your level of knowledge configuring MT routers as the RB5009 is not for the faint of heart.

this command will open port 1234 and send the data til ip 192.168.1.1

/ip firewall nat add chain=dstnat dst-port=1234 action=dst-nat protocol=tcp to-address=192.168.1.1 to-port=1234

Why dont you stop providing advice until you learn more about RoS please. Your advice is incomplete in multiple ways.

hey anav

I appreciate your feedback on my previous advice. I’m always eager to learn more and improve my understanding of MikroTik routers. Instead of simply pointing out that my advice was incomplete, it would be incredibly helpful if you could share your knowledge and guide me on how to provide more accurate and comprehensive support in the future.

Sorry not my job, I am here to help people with their issues. Take some courses read some books, watch decent videos, and if you have questions, based on some EFFORT, on the subject at hand, then I will gladly respond.

(routerOS by example is a good one)

Im actually very new to all of this I just bought this router for a unique project Im doing that requires a router with a good cpu and good ram and the rb5009 exceeds what I needed but I would rather have more than less so far its working good for what I want but I needed to switch ISP providers to get a faster connection and upgraded to fiber as well. I think I’m actually going to hire a guy on fiverr to setup what I need setup as it is real time sensitive but I need the fiber line installed first which will be on friday. I can learn how to do all this stuff myself at a later point when its not as time sensitive but am still interested in seeing how all this works its pretty interesting stuff.

Hey so I watched a few videos on the port forwarding Im still just not quite sure about it I can’t really wrap my head around it I know I’m trying to forward the information from one ip to go to another ip but not really sure what I’m supposed to do I’m trying to run these nodes and guys in the discord/forum were saying I need to open ports/port forward. I see the ip of my computer as the ip I want to forward the information from but not quite sure where I’m forwarding it to am I just forwarding everything into the sfp+ port on my router? (i have that setup as ether1 basically)

I’m just stuck and having a hard time with this if anyone can kind of explain this to me a bit better so i can get a better understanding I would appreciate it

Thank you

If that doesn’t work, port your complete config without serial and any other priivate info and post it here:

/export file=anynameyoulike

Ur wasting your time erlinden, there is no desire to learn and put in an effort, wants to be spoonfed.
If the OP had actually attempted to work through any of the links, he may have had at least some decent questions to pose indicating some level of effort and some points he was getting or needed some specific understanding… however what we got is… relying on discord forum crapola being used as crutch.

@adamantasaurus, here are some links to what appears to be a clear pedagogical explanation with step-by-step instructions:
