As of now I have an FWA Antenna powered with a power supply compatible with 802.3.AF/AT (see attached image) connected to a Fritz!Repeater that provides WiFi.
I am interested in buying L009UiGS-RM (optical fiber ready, can run containers etc).
I’d also like to minimize the cables and power supplies: from some researches looks like that I can power the L009UiGS-RM using the existing ZTE adapter.
Can anyone confirm that at least theoretically this works?
And eventually how the connections would work?
Is it correct to connect the ZTE power supply to L009UiGS-RM’s eth1 and then the connect the FWA antenna to L009UiGS-RM’s eth8?
Finally I will connect the Fritz!Repeater to any of the free ports (eth2 > eth7).
That power supply is designed (rightly) to power only the ZTE.
If you add more, it won't have enough power.
It might run for a while, then die.
You can also use just one power supply, but it must be powerful enough to power both (and the future SFP module, too...)
Without wanting to be too mathematical:
Max power consumption 40 W
Max power consumption without attachments 8 W
so 15W is not enough for both.
Low voltage PoE-Out current limit 1 A (at 24V)
High voltage PoE-Out current limit 450 mA (at 56V)
so with a suitable power supply it should be able to power the ZTE too BUT IT IS ONLY PASSIVE, that is, it just gives current to the cables, without following any standard
L009 can be powered using power adapter shown on your photograph. However you'd have to do some power budget calculation: PA is rated at 15W, L009 own consumption is "up to 8W", so only 7W would remain for FWA device. Is that enough (I somehow doubt it).
Another thing is that L009 supports only "passive" PoE out on ether8. It might work with FWA or might not (if FWA insists on 802.3 af/at power negotiations). Most devices don't and if PSE (PoE-out device) provides power at expected voltage, they will power-up even without power negotiations. But MT's implementation of passive PoE-out does include some (minimum) checks and an 802.3 af/at compliant device might fail them. In such case it might help if PoE-out was set to "forced on".
You would probably be able to do the "daisy chain" powering, but you'd have to source a more powerful 802.3 at/bt power adapter, capable of 30W (or more) power output.
The model wasn't specified, but I doubt it wants exactly 15W...
Power supplies are usually slightly oversized, not exactly.
I expect the ZTE to get around 10W...
Op is also thinking about powering L009 through eth1 and the antenna through eth8. I think PoE out is not possible if L009 is powered using PoE in, he might need PoE splitter.
The reason why i wrote think is, vaguely i remember experiencing that issue in my L009 which i no longer have. Replaced that with RB5009 that also having same issue. Both the cases, this can be solved by using simple splitter like https://mikrotik.com/product/RBGPOE
After you asked whereabout, i looked in the brochure!
Back to that question, describne in which way you want to update it.
The L009 model you asked about has no Wi-FI so you will need anyway something acting as an AP, at this point - unless you really-really need 8 RJ45 ports - you could be better served by another Mikrotik device, such as the hAP Ax2 or the (newish, yet to be refined in software and drivers) hAP Ax S.
