Hold this button during boot time until LED light starts flashing, release the button to reset RouterOS configuration (total 5 seconds).
Keep holding for 5 more seconds, LED turns solid, release now to turn on CAP mode. The device will now look for a CAPsMAN server (total 10 seconds).
Or Keep holding the button for 5 more seconds until LED turns off, then release it to make the RouterBOARD look for Netinstall servers (total 15 seconds).
Which of these three is reset?
Neither works for me. For example, in first case, I hold reset button during plugging ethernet cable, wait when green LED starts to blink and then unhold the button. After that green LED stays still for a while, then all LEDs turn off. After several minutes blue LED turns on and nothing else happen. I don’t see Mikrotik SSID network around.
The procedure involves power cable, not network cable (unless you’re powering your device via POE). And the first bullet applies (holding reset button for 5 seconds after applying power).
This router doesn’t have separate power, only PoE.
My problem was probably a cable.
I was afraiding my router was bricked, but it wasn’t.
I was able to connect notebook to it via second RJ45 by cable and saw it’s UI. It was indeed reset. I was able to configure it again.
The reset button is the button on the backside of the cAP XL ac. One of those two long shaped buttons next to the ethernet ports. it is NOT the main button at the center on the front with the LED light screaming “CLICK ME CLICK ME”.
