How to reset RB2011-2Hnd-IN?

I’ve been using RB450G for several years until it died recently, so i bought a “brand-new” one: RB2011-2Hnd-IN

I’ve successfully connected to it yesterday using Winbox, encountered some problems, and was trying to configure it properly…
Occasionaly, I’ve set some setting so that I can’t connect to it anymore through LAN.
The device seems fully operational, shows some stats on LCD.

Now, I’m trying to reset it to factory default.
|ve been pressing the reset button before and after plugging in the power, for short and long periods of time - no luck.
The device either enters “ether boot” mode, or loads previos config.
I’ve unscrewed the device and tried to use the reset jumper - nothing changes.
I’ve tried to use NetInstall (don’t have serial cable), instruction is very vague, looks like it does’t see the router.
Can’t connect Winbox using MAC address - the dropdown is empty

I’ve spent about 6 hours by now, trying to make it work, disappointed and frustrated. :frowning:
I need a step-by-step instruction how to reset it and connect to it

Deleted because not related.

Hello Dobby!

Nope, I haven’t updated it.
It looks like the version is 5.20

  1. If I push and hold the reset button after applying power, I get the “ether boot” message.
If I press and release the reset button (after applying power), I get the device loading as usual.

  2. I’ve connected the device to WinXP computer. Winbox shows the MAC address and old misconfigured 172.16.1.2 IP address.
I’ve tried to use both: get either “time out” or “no response” error message.
I’ve tried to use every port, from eth1 to eth10

  3. I’ve tried to use NetInstall, but it doesn’t see the device

Well…
I’ve received an instruction from support team, on how to Netinstall:

1. Download latest RouterOS v6 build and Netinstall:
http://www.mikrotik.com/download
2. leave Netinstall running in background.
3. connect etherboot cable to ether1, hold down reset button.
4. power on the unit, release reset button after ~10s.
5. check if you can see unit in Netinstall window.

Before that, I’ve been trying to use netinstall 5.22
So, I followed the instruction with v6.0rc6

The same thing: Netinstall doesn’t see the router.
I’ve tried all the possible combinations for a hundred of times, and then, all of a sudden, I’ve been able to connect to the device using WinBox. I dunno how it happened, for I’d been doing the same thing for at least 20 times…

The device seemed semi-functional, the interface list was empty, wireless list empty too, health window had no stats etc., but “System Reset Configuration” was functional, so finally I had an opportunity to reset it from within WinBox.

The first thing I did was upgrade to 6.0rc6 - it has System Reset option on LCD screen PIN-code 1234.

Still, if anybody encounters the same problem, I don’t know how to use the hardware reset button or update using Netinstall.

Same thing. I spent two hours trying to press reset button in different ways.. And when I’m really desperate, I opened the case. Next to the reset button is jumper hole, need to close the jumper with a metal screwdriver, and boot the device until the configuration is cleared, like in other models. See http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Password_reset . Instructions from original manual seems to does not work for my device. Hope this helps.

It’s help for my model!
For factory default, no need press “reset” button at boot time, only reset jumper must be closed.

Thanks!!!
