ok, I have a unique situation. I have a friend who, due to family members watching netflix needs to allocate a set amount of data to a mac address. example, kid 1 gets 50gb a month, kid 2 gets 50gb per month, family media tv gets 100gb per month and no limit to his personal pc. I want to bind the mac address because one of his kids have figured out he can change his IP. Currently they are using an ASUS router which gives some control over things but not down to the mac level. I’m going to switch him to a RB951Ui-2HnD if this can be done. I have done some searching on here and other places but I haven’t found anything. Maybe I’m not asking google the right question. LOL
50+ views and not a single answer. Oh well. Kinda hoped that Mikrotik router could provide a fix.
Not really sure what you’re asking…why limit data? Does he has broadband issues…if so get a bigger Internet package from his ISP like 100Mb per second or more! The kid will, eventually, figured out how to change the Mac address too thanks to Google.
He gets 300gb per month and can’t afford to go up in his ISP package. As far as the mac issue. I can set it up to not allow connections unless it is a certain MAC address in a list.
