I have 2 PC’s both are running winxp and one of them (let’s call it PC1) is already connected to my MT and has Internet connection using hotsopt IP-MAC username/passward authentication. now I want to share this internet connection to another PC (lets call it PC2) which is already connected to PC1. so the options i have to share the internet are:
1-using windows internet connection sharing utility but this imposes that PC1 should have the IP address of 192.168.0.1 which is the IP address of my local Lan card in my MT !!! so I can not use this option!
2-to run a proxy software on PC1 and configure PC2 to use proxy in Internet option utitlity, the problem is how to tell my MT about PC2 I mean how to authenticate it? should I use MAC only or IP only? should I use different user name and passward for PC2.
3-using Bridge on PC1 between the wireless card (which is connected to my MT) and the ethernet card (which is connected to PC1) . this worked by telling the MT to allow 2 users to share the same usename and to allow 2 IPs per MAC address. the thing is when I try to connect to Internet from PC2 I got the login page and I can login in fact! but I can not be connected to any web site! no internet at all although it shows me that I am connected in MT status page??
please guys, I need any way that allow me to share the internet on PC2 through PC1.
I am everyone has an idea that can be helpful–so thanks to anyone who will drop us a line here
hmm why do you want to go thru pc number1 , why not connect them both to the microtilk and either 1 put a wireless card in the mikrotik or 2 plug it into your dsl or something of that nature. Internet connection sharing isnt very good for handeling connections to another pc , its more of a workaround if anything imo. But if you need to do it then you ms makes you use that ip address for it to work.
the story is that one of my clients (users) has 2 PC’s and one grid antena so he currently connecting PC1 to my Internet service and wishes to share this connection with his PC2 through LAN
so PC1 has 2 LAN card one is the wireless card which is already connected to my AP to my MT and ethernet LAN card connected to PC2
PC2 has only one ethernet LAN card which is now connected to PC1
the question now, how i can PC2 share the intenet from PC1 or lets put it in this way, how i can let PC2 has access to Internet via my MT?
that is right and this is why I’m looking for other way..you know my MT local card has the address of 192.168.0.1 and i already have many users connected to my server…so i have to change the IP setting of all of them!!
moreover, if i changed my MT lan card to other address lets say 192.168.0.2, how i guarantee that PC2 will not be assigned this address as win xp ics uses dhcp for sharing the internet connection as you know.
is there any way to let PC1 to bypass network traffic to PC2 ? so that pc2 becomes an ordinary client as pc1 that i can add its ip and mac to enable the authentication.
MAN, it’s a very simple task to do. you have to have 2 lan card in your 1st PC which is connected to your MT, then just active Internet connection sharing on your 1st lan card which is connected to your MT and have your IP from the MT OS. after Internet connection sharing your 2nd lan cards IP will be 192.168.0.1, you can change this IP anytime as your internal local IP between your 2nd PC. then make your 2nd PCs IP DHCP or you can put static IP too. That’s it your Internet connection sharing is done now.
