My upstream is now shaping Skype so I get too many complaints.
I have 4 x upstream shaped lines and 1 x upstream unshaped.
But my unshaped line is very small.
Can I install a Skype proxy or something?
I tried source routing all clients but they max out my small line and it’s too resource intensive.
I tried layer7 mangle as suggested somewhere but this doesn’t work at all.
It’s unclear if it’s even worth doing layer7 matching as Skype is too complex.
I have researched this forum high and low and I don’t find a definitive answer on how to do this.
Please help me I am going to get desperate and that is not funny.
Ok Chupaka imagine David vs. Goliath. Or maybe sucking blood out of a stone. Would you ask AT&T how they make money or what their trade secrets are? Of course I will ask, you are right, there is no charge for asking a question.
In the meanwhile I am using a socks5 proxy (Dante with Ubuntu). It looks like Skype is anyway a protocol monster that I can only reliably control with some configuration on the client side. I like sending the packets to our HQ first anyway because voice is very sensitive to long routes and now our HQ machine is doing all the fancy work.
yes, I remember that scandal when some provider was resetting TCP connections for BitTorrent traffic, but… maybe it’s not that case? because determining Skype connections is outstanding task
