this yellow network cloud to me is useless but it keeps auto-adding itself. It is super annoying..
any way to permanently disable the ‘auto-discovery’ of it, while keeping auto-discovery on?

In auto-discovery configuration window → Advanced tad disable “Add Networks” and “Add Links”. That should disable re-addition of that network cloud item.

That should have worked. Try creating new automated auto-discovery task in map settings and deleting this old one.
Under Local - Network Map, General Tab, Report Scan Status table?
