How to turn of MT terminal playing smart?

While I type commands in MT terminal it plays smart and guesses what I want to type in. Usually that is quite useful, but as I am used to type in whole commands it just annoys me.

So I like to be able to turn it off.

There is actually more serious reason to turn it off.

While writing scripts, as MT’s script engine is very poor, and especially unfriendly for debugging, I get used to write script outside of MT and then copy and paste code to terminal to run it and at least get information if MT complies with errors.

In MT 3.x, as terminal plays smart, copy and paste code does not work any more as it is messed up with MT’s guesses what I actually wanted to type in. So if I paste…

/queue

… i actualy get…

/queue export ue

… and similar trash shows up in wholepasted code.

So there should be an option to turn of command quessing and force MT to accept characters as typed.

If someone knows better way to debug, speak up.

hm… what version do you use? 3.17, I cannot repeat this…

hit CTRL+V then try again …

pedja, just don’t hit Ctrl+V

To clarify:

CTRL+V in RouterOS doesn’t paste anything, it turns on “command guess mode”. Hit the same again to disable it. Paste using right-click and “paste”

I always paste using right mouse click. Ctrl+V never worked for me.

However, i tried Ctrl+V to change “command guess mode” (I knew Mikrotik has some fancy name for playing smart). It did not work.

Then I treid CTRL+Shift+V and that changed mode from “playing smart” to normal.

Of course, Winbox shows no identificator to make this status noticable, or to make user to at least be aware that such mode exists.

I use MT 3.17 and Winbox loader 2.2.10.

try winbox loader 2.2.14 =)
but don’t think it will change something…

The latest winbox on MT site is 2.2.13 and I cannot even login into MT using it, so I use older version.

use WinBox from you RouterOS

http://your-router-address

Now I am sure you are making joke on me.

Not a joke. Put in your IP address into the following link and you can get winbox from your Mikrotik router.

http://router.ip.goes.here/winbox/winbox.exe

Alternatively, when you just go to the root page (http://router.ip.goes.here/) there will be a link to download winbox from the router in the upper left hand portion of the page.

Scott

after my 1000th post I stopped joking =) so now I’m absolutely serious

All I can see is that you are serious about you “playing smart”.

the closes source of newest winbox.exe is router with latest version of RouterOS installed. it has been before and AFAIK it wont change any-time soon.

other source would be demo.mt.lv or demo2.mt.lv
