How to turn off USB LED?

Hi clever people,

Just wondering if there is an easy way to turn off the USB LED even when a USB is inserted? I’ve currently got both RB2011UiAS-2HnD and an RB3011UiAS-RM.

More importantly the RB3011 as I use the SFP LED to show pppoe-out interface status and the green LED is being swamped by how bright the blue USB LED is, I also use a small USB stick and was wondering if there is anything I cna do to turn it off.

I’ve check in /system/LED and it only lists user-led and nothing about USB LED.

Thanks
Steve

Unfortunately you can do nothing about it… unless you have soldering iron or piece of black tape

Is it a USB LED? Or do you mean the “power” LED?
That is indeed ridiculously bright. I have a piece of black tape in front of it, but that does not solve your problem.

It’s a power led. Mikrotik apologize for that already

What I don’t understand is why they did not notice this after the first production and changed the bill of materials to put a much larger resistor in series with that LED…

Maybe their marketing department wanted it that way and discovered it was mistake after release
