HP DAC - CCR compatibility

Does anyone know if the HP J9281B 1m DAC cable (http://www8.hp.com/lamerica_nsc_carib/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=4000725) would work with connecting a CCR-1036 to an HP Switch?

Alternatively does anyone know if the Mikrotik 1m DAC cable will work when connecting to the HP switch?

Is it a Comware or ProVision based switch ?
If it’s Comware based you should be ok.

If it’s comware based at most you should be able to override any error on the HP via

transceiver phoney alarm disable

These things tend to be a bit of a gamble sometimes , but I’ve had very few compatibility issues on the Mikrotik side with SFP’s and DAC cables.

It’s the HP 3800 switches - http://www8.hp.com/za/en/products/networking-switches/product-detail.html?oid=5171624
I think that’s ProVision

I haven’t done that specific combo, but I’ve used HP optics in CCRs along with a whole slew of different types of SFPs and DAC/Twinax in the CCRs without issue. Typically, it tends to be the device you are connecting to that has more of an issue with the SFP compatibility than the MikroTik stuff.

I think you are going to be SOL on the HP end if you use the Mikrotik DAC.The Provision/Procurve cr@p vendor locks everything in my experience. It might be worth your while to post on the HP forums and see what they say , but I’m sure you will get the same feedback.
Like IPANetEngineer said, the Mikrotik’s tend to be very vendor neutral and support a large amount of third party vendor equipment.

Awesome, thanks for the responses, I’m going to give the HP DAC cables a try and hope that the Mikrotik works with them. It sounds like the most likely option that will work.

We tried a HP QSFP+ to 4x SFP+ CABLE to connect a CCR with a 5900 and it worked. We only had to split the qsfp to 4 sfp+ in switch cli
