HW recommendation

Hello,
I want to rebuild my old home network with a mikrotik devices. It is very simple design:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YU294h98ce6vpZKJDE1FjDkBeq7Zg29Z/view?usp=sharing

I want to confirm with you before order if these devices will handle my requirements:

Requirements LAN:

  • copy speed inside subnet as close as possible 1000 mbps
  • copy speed between subnets as close as possible 500 mbps
  • internet speed as close as possible 500 mbps (no more than 10 FW rules)

LAN devices = 6
WIFI devices = 10

Requirements WIFI:

  • 2,4 / 5 GHz

My shopping list:
SWITCH: CRS112-8G-4S-IN
ROUTER: hEX (RB750Gr3)
APs: hAP ac2 (RBD52G-5HacD2HnD-TC)

Thanks and regards,
MK

I would use the hAP ac2 in the hEX place. More CPU, better switch chip and You can always disable its WiFi, if not needed. Yes, it comes with “only” 128 MB of RAM. Trust me: for home usage 128 MB is plenty.

Do you need 4 SFP ports? For almost the same price you could get more ports albeit with two SFP instead of 4.The CRS326 has SFP+ ports. More ports are always handy if you want to add cameras etc.

(I have no involvement with the reseller above other than I buy my devices from them!)

Hi,

Thank you for your tips. Appreciate this

  • No I dont need SFP ports I just need 8 ports so CRS112 was cheapest one with 4 spare ports for future use if I use 1GB LAN SFP. 40EUR difference is almost one hAP ac2.
  • I just checked test result and you are true hAP ac2 is better with almost same price so I go for hAP ac2 instead.

Will post test results when everything is in place.

Again thanks for your help,
MK
