Hyper-V and Mikrotik

Was wondering if this would work. Want to create a Hyper-V server that has a single nic and it will be used for colocation. Will be getting a v4 64 IP allotment. Wanted to create a Mikrotik VM that will accept the 64 and route to Hyper-v internal switch. The Mikrotik will have 2 nics, one external switch and one internal switch. There will be about 30 small Hyper-V VM’s on this server and all will be in the ip range of my /64 and all set to internal network.

I have used Mikrotik routers before, but never virtualized under Hyper-V. Want to make sure this will work before I attempt it.

Thanks!

Hi.

It will be possible with CHR routerOS version, check it out: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:CHR_Hyper-V_installation

Installed CHR last night on a test system and its working with Hyper-V. Think this will provide a solution for the colo box.

Thanks!

Hello guys!
I’m interested in detailed description how CHR on Hyper-V distinguish between virtual switches that we provide to it
when setting NIC adapters for CHR in Windows VM manager?
Manual from Mikrotik tells us about only ONE! virtual switch ether port, however actually it was at least two of them
in almost every practical scenario…
Furthermore, when we start configuring (if we have say External.VS & Private.VS) two virt. ports
ether1 & ether2 - which are printed first CHR start, how they mapped to Ext & Priv???
We must somehow testing this mapping or can direct distinguish what is what?
Again - is there some source for beginners, just a little bit more detailed than default mikrotik one already mentioned above?
