I have CHR latest vhdx image setup on Hp dl360 gen8, HP 331FLR 4 port nic.
on very basic routing (just natting one WAN ip to lan) I get 25mbps traffic max!!
on port, from host os, there is 500mpbs+ speed.
I have send e-mail to support waiting for answers, and maybe someone had same issues?
that is very critical for us now
I’m having this problem too. What network adapters are you using? I had to change from the normal to Legacy, because since 6.37 it won’t work with the normal adapters. It was crashing and acting weird. Before the update to 6.37 I was getting 900+mbps…
Im using legacy one.
Now trying to use 6.34 image, but after install, it keeps restarting loop, like boot sup, generating ssha keys and then restarts.
Would try now 6.34 with legacy cards.
Cant determine solution and mikrotik support is super slow! one answer in 3 days!!! and thats actually critical bug
I’ve been having this problem for 2~3 weeks now and this is the first reference to it, lets try to get it fixed asap, I didn’t post before because my WAN uplink is only 10Mbps and the 25Mbps cap is not a problem, but people who has decent bandwidth will suffer this.
Try with 6.36.3 and not legacy adapters. My setup is a 2012 R2 on the MicroServer Gen8. Maybe its not an Hyper-V but an HP related problem?
Well, I tried updating to 6.38rc15, but the problem is still there. Works fine with 1 adapter, the second I add one more, boom. Server crash and reboots.
Yup, thats exactly what happens to me, and sometimes crashes the whole host. Legacy adapters meanwhile, but I’m seriously considering migrating to another router…
I though that 6.38 was relief. untill just restarted and I can not even reinstall it with same vhdx.
absolutely irresponsible.
thinking about PFsense.
whats important, x86 versions works good. why the hell I bought this chr
Rc means very rough daily build that everyone have to expect it is buggy. It is for testing purposes only. Stay with the bugfix release if you want to be sure as much as possible.
I am testing other router operating systems time to time but none has the flexibility to easily set everything. I am coming back again and again to ros as to the best one.
6.34 bugfix
initial istall begins, restarts itself, on first start loading initrd, thengenerating ssha keys, then starting services and crashes!
after that completely turning off VM at each start
6.37 current
installs, works. speed 25mbs.
after restart goes to boot loop.
6.38 rc
seemed to work ok. full speed. but have restarted after 2 days and it just crashed. see screenshot above.
even when I try to create VM with new vhdx, 1 of the 10-th times it installs correctly, but crashes after few restart.
I use 6.36.3 with normal network adapter’s. Legacy adapters will be emulated and won’t have very good speed. In Windows legacy adapters is presented as 100 Mbit.
So use 6.36.3 in wait for fix to this issue. My CHR dies on 6.37.x at the moment but works like a charm on 6.36 release with normal network adapters.
A good tip is to use checkpoints in Hyper-V before a upgrade. My rollback took a few seconds after I realized that the router was dead after update and switching network interface is a no no for me.
it seems like working at full speed and doesnt crash,
but inside lan, I have a server, with cisco anyconnect vpn client, and it loses or drops traffic, so communication with database is corrupted.
that happens on 6.X series of routeros and CHR.
now working on demo 5.18 and looking for solution (on 5.18 it drops about 2-3% of data, on 6.X 20-30%)
cant determine whats the problem.
absolutelly no filters or rules, just nat and thats all
Well, I tried updating to 6.38rc15, but the problem is still there. Works fine with 1 adapter, the second I add one more, boom. Server crash and reboots.
I use 2 legacy network adapters connected to CHR. I’m on 6.37.3 and maximum speed is about 15Mbps on 100Mbps internet connectivity.
Found CPU usage 100% when trying to download / upload and profiler shows Ethernet is the reason.
So I tried to add another core to CHR virtual machine, but It doesn’t boot or I cannot login.
Build 6.36.4 to 6.37.2 all have issues with network adapters in Hyper-V. 6.37.3 solves this issue and you should have a stable router with Network adapters.
Legacy adapters are very restricted and should not be used if performance is key.
Use build 6.37.3 and switch to network adapters and the issue should be resolved.
Do you use Mikrotik CHR and do not reach your maximum speed?
The solution is to acquire a P Unlimited license whatever the speed of your provider.
For days and weeks I did not find an explanation why my CHR 6.48.2 did not reach the maximum speed of my P1 license (1Gb) and stayed at herratic speeds between 80Mb-220Mb, until I put a demo of a P4 (10Gb) and voila the speed doubled but it still did not reach the 1 Gb contracted, I put a demo license P unlimited and EUREKA! now it reaches 1 Gb and with super low processor usage
I realized when it was something of the internal software when on a clean copy I added 2 ethernet in a bridge and with it passed through the Bridge the problem occurred and when putting the direct VM it did not occur, and then I decided to change the license because there was no no parameter of anything that could interfere with the simple functionality of a Switch
