Are your users connected directly to HotSpot interface, or there’s a long array of bridges between them?
If you connect directly to the hotspot interface, do you still have the same problem?

Yes, they are directly connected to HotSpot Interface,

A Mikrotik User

Are you using any of the following?

  • https cert on login page
  • dns name on internal interface
  • http-pap or chap login

I’ve had a couple of problems before where the static dns entries on the hotspot seemed to stop responding. Or users computers that just refused to go via their 1st DNS server (would normally assign the internal IP, then 2 external DNS servers.

Try turning off the dns name if you’re having a problem, this may require you to turn off https as otherwise you will get a certificate error. Please let us know if any tweaking like this makes it work again.

I usually use IP Address instead of the DNS system. Then redirect them to a SSL Site on a portal box for CC etc. Then bring them back to the MT for login after they pay via CC. I have found that this is to be the simplest and best way, eliminates DNS issues. Some workstations have issues with this. I have a workstation for a regular client that WILL NOT work worth crap unless I use the IP.

I also have same problem … after upgrade I make clean setup of hotspot , and everything is fine for 24 hours … then users browsing without login …
Just when I enable and disable hotspot server , everything is back normal…
Well now I will try also disable DNS on hotspot interface … and I will see is this is the reason why hotspot stop to work …
