Im never tired to say that DUDE is a great tool and also work great. But IF suddenly your no-break fails, this thing happens:

I know, its free… its beta… Then, instead of complain, I beg you for some kind of integrity check for backups. Im still using dude beta 3 cuz I have experienced problems with beta 4, 5 and 6 about SNMP queries and ICMP probes. The problem about SNMP is that some times the labels show 0 (zero) and some times just show “[interface.xsomething]” instead. Ping graphs are also messed from beta 4 to 6, showing completely different values when you upgrade from beta 3. But this is not really a problem at all. The big problem is the picture above and backup procedures to avoid the lost of data. I have sended dude xml file to mikrotik long ago with the answer “your map has been loaded ok”. sighs
I do backup exporting xml files and copying the entire dude directory every day. Curiously, even the directory data restored shows the picture above and the only backup that is working is about one month older. Since I do edit the map data a lot every day, all the backups I was hopefully doing right has been made wrong without any warning, without any error. Of course I was not reloading each backup atm that they was created to check if they are not corrupted. Then I have lost lots of info and now I need to remake the network map.
Every time this happen, I lost hours remaking work and this is no good. Then I must do a hard work now, remake the maps, lists, etc from a new reseted config dude install. Backup each atomic levels of data and info arround it every day (hopefully I will lost just one day of work) and no matter what, I need also a machine exclusively and specialy configured to test every dude backups integrity. What a pain.
So I beg your help. Its a lot of work to do when this happen. Please, make a way to backup different sections of dude (maps, lists, configs, etc) separated and easy to check each of its integrity. Is that even possible? What else could I do? Is a poweredge 1900 not good enough to run dude free of errors? ![]()
