Did you try to find something about updates in manual?
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/system/upgrade
To upgrade RouterOS to a more recent version, simply upload the packages (http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html) to the router via ftp, using the binary transfer mode, and then issue “/system reboot” command.
which file do i download from http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html and in what directory do i put it?
Here is more detailed description,

I have a router running 2.9.9, and the license says its "upgradable until July 1st, 2006…can i still upgrade to the latest 2.9.x release, or do I need to buy a new key?
I tried to upload the packages to the router and issued the reboot command, but it did not upgrade the software…
If you want to upgrade to 2.9.27 version, than you have to purchase new key.
“upgradable until” means just that …
I just use the web interface, nice and easy ![]()
I would expect that I could upgrade within the same 2.9.x tree, as no new features are really added and everything is basically a bug fix…
we are changing to that policy sometime soon ..
Will that apply for people that already are stuck at 2.9.x, or will we have to purchase a new key that can be upgraded through the entire 2.x.x chain?
