i worried i never thinks that config mikrotik radios is very dificult and that support is very very very bad, is absolutly that american products is betther and in u.s.a company the support is excelent compare to mikrotik suport, is frustrant.

that only things that i need is join 2 computers in a basic net, but i can t, please help me.

READ THE MANUAL… or go buy linksys if you think american companies do such a better job… try getting that blue POS router to do everything Mikrotik can…

If you would like assistance setting up your MT router I’d be glad to help you @ $120/HR… my contact info can be furnished upon request.

Well it does highlight a point, the learning curve is quite steep for new users. Easy when you know how but …

This is one reason we ship our MT-based solutions preconfigured in a “known working” state, with a “backup” saved on the flash so it is always possible to get back to a working setup.

That’s easy for us as we have control of HW and the SW and the state it leaves in - a bit tricky for people installing the SW on unknown HW platforms. In the microsoft world, a “wizard” would be used to guide through the setup. Now that’s got me thinking …

wizard as in setup for mikrotik? there is this setup command, has anyone seen it ? it think is works quite well, even for absolute beginners.

True, but its just like any UNIX based OS and much like other Network Operating Systems (IOS comes to mind)… If you have any background in computers/networking you’ve most likely used the applications I just mentioned. If you haven’t, read the manual, educate yourself on networking because the manual isn’t going to tell you about all the protocol specific’s.

You can’t dive head first into Mikrotik’s software with no practical knowledge of networking, this isn’t exactly an end user device.

Well agreed, the packaging should state clearly “not for kids” …

But seriously, our business has been selling solutions to people who often “ought to know better” and play with things, break them, and then complain.
Our plan is to provide the routers/radios preconfigured, use our RadioManager application for them to manage, and don’t let the customer into Winbox by using a long non-friendly login/password.
Otherwise, we would have a tech support nightmare on our hands…
