I just got a RaspberryPi I’m going to use as a little media center. I got it set up and running, but when I connect the ethernet cable to my RB2011, nothing happens - it doesn’t assign an address, there’s no ARP entry, nothing.
I’ve tried multiple ports. Right now, it’s connected to ETH4 on SW1 which, since I’m here right now writing this, is obviously working. But I’ve also tried all the ports on SW2, since the Pi is just 10/100 ethernet, anyway. But, still, nothing.
I don’t really know what other information to provide besides my export, so, here’s my export.
EDIT: I was wrong. My cable is bad after all.
I tried moving my desktop from eth2 to eth6 and it reconnected in a few seconds. So I unplugged the desktop and plugged it into the Pi and it connected straight away. Then I tried the cable in question on my desktop, and it wouldn’t connect at all.
Odd, that an ethernet cable that’s been sitting in a box for two years can go bad but, I suppose, the world’s an imperfect place.
