Hi all,
i’m trying to dowgrade the firmware of some RB493G, from 6.42.7 to 6.38.5
I did this operation a lot of times in the past, just unboxing the RB, connecting to it via winbox , uploading the old firmware, and using packages->downgrade function in winbox,
and everything was ok all the times.
Now, last two RBs i received from my reseller came with 6.42.7 and i can’t downgrade the firmware.
Any idea ?

Anything in the log after reboot? What’s the factory software as listed in System > Resources?

anyway,. the factory software is 6.39
i tried to upload another package, to see if its a bug related only to 6.42.7
i uploaded system package 6.43.7 , and it upgraded succesfully, but also from this version i cant downgrade..
So there’s nothing in the log?
I watched the log right now, it says “omitting package system_6.38.5 min version is 6.39”
so it sounds like i can’t downgrade.
is there any way to override this lock?
You can not downgrade below the ROS factory version, in this case 6.39. Unless MT has some workaround.
The factory version is normally the minimum version that supports that hardware. If you somehow force it to go lower, it may not even boot properly, or hardware may be not detected due to missing drivers.

Why do you want do downgrade?
You may install a software with know errors that could set you at risc.
