In which area to put GW? Backbone o NSSA?

Hi all!

Which is better place to have all gateways? In backbone area or to create NSSA and put GW in them?
Thx

NSSA = ?

I meant on not so stubby area.

On OSPF, once well configured, you can have better failover…

“Gateway” is a very generic term. Try to provide more information on your topology, host density, IP addressing structure etc. .

Let’s say that this is my simplified network configuration:

I am connected to two ISP’s. I use BGP, but I’m taking only default route.
Area1 and Area2 goes via one provider, and Area3 and Area4 goes via second provider.
I only want to have backup routes. So if one provider fails everything goes through second one and vice verso.

But, which is better? Put Internet gateways to area or leave them on backbones?

Should I create this topology or stay with current?

Thx

I would stay with current as I don’t see any advantage of the second option. I am also using similar setup on one place with failover and fully static routing. Failover is done by changing the distance of the routes by netwatch script.

From your description you should just leave these devices in the backbone.
